The invention of Pinterest has been ground-breaking for the wedding world. Now when brides are newly engaged, they have a great tool to start the planning process immediately at their fingertips. However, when it gets down to the nitty gritty, most brides feel they can't afford the dream wedding from their many pin boards. 1. Identify what draws your attention to each of your pins.
You pinned an elaborate and stunning cake display that would surely be a show-stopper on your wedding day. But what is it that you like about that image so much? Do you like the rosettes on the cake, the greenery wall as the backdrop, or the linen the cake is sitting on? Honing in on those one or two things that make the pin special to you can help your vendors come up with a way to make it a reality that fits in your checkbook.
2. Research the source to make sure your pins come from actual weddings.
There are tons and tons of pins out there that are from styled photo shoots or inspiration boards. There are beautiful and grand ideas, but they might not always be practical on your wedding day. Having all of your guests sit at long farm tables sitting end to end for their meal is so fun and makes a great family-style setting, but when you have 250 guests it might not be feasible. Instead, we can reduce the number of farm tables and intersperse them throughout your reception to get the look you are going for while also saving you a little bit of money. We can always take your Pinterest vision and tweak it slightly to make it fit your special day.
3. Do NOT DIY every little detail.
Pinterest has a never-ending list of how-to links. From how to cover your glass votive candles in gold glitter to how to make your own center pieces out of cotton bolls. Sometimes these DIY projects will save a little bit of money, but often times they end up being more of a headache than they are worth. 4. Hire an all-star team of vendors.
Your wedding vendors are your biggest resource for all things wedding planning. If you surround yourself with an expert group, your wedding planning process will be a breeze. Most of the time your vendors will ask you to show them some of your pins so they can get an idea of your personal style. Be completely honest with them about your budget and what you want and they will do their best to make sure you have the wedding you've dreamt of for years.
